About MeI've been working with glass since 1999. I started out with a small hot head torch making small beads in my mothers basement. I took several years before I would take a class and really jump start into other techniques and styles of working with glass. I've studied with lampworkers such as Lucio Bubacco, Joy Munshower, Leah Fairbanks, Diego Bottecin and Jim Smircich.
In 2005, I took a class in fusing small pendants and silver clay. Never thinking I would get into fusing on a larger scale I bought a small kiln and started playing with melting glass in the kiln at times when I couldn't play with the torch. Over the years I started playing more and more. A close friend found a large "bathtub" kiln at an estate sale and I made the jump into making larger pieces. The more I played the more I wanted to learn and do. I've taken classes with fusing artists such as Ian Chadwick, Miriam DiFiore, Nathan Sandberg, Richard LaLonde, Michael DuPille, Milon Townsend, Robert Leatherbarrow and Richard Parrish (just to name a few). I don't know what the future will hold, but as long as I can keep playing there will always be something more to learn and play with... |
